In and Around Llandudno

The Esplanade is an ideal base from which to explore North Wales. Snowdonia, Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula are all within easy driving distance and offer a bewildering range of tourist objectives. Historic Conwy, with its medieval castle, town walls and busy quay, is only three miles from Llandudno.

Higher up the Conwy Valley is Betws-y-Coed, surrounded by pine-covered slopes, and offering excellent facilities, aswell as the natural attractions of the Fairy Glen and Swallow Falls. Beyond Betws-y-coed and over the Crimea Pass, is Blaenau Ffestiniog where visitors can tour slate quarries and enjoy a trip on the famous miniature railway to Porthmadoc. The Snowdonia National Park is a magnet for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts, while the North Wales coast, and the coastlines of the Lleyn peninsula and Anglesey offer a huge number of beautiful beaches, perfect for families.

In HV Moreton's 1932 guide, In Search of Wales, he wrote, "Llandudno knows its job. It knows exactly what people want". Seventy years later, the same is still true of the Esplanade Hotel especially!
